T'was the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away,
The reason for Christmas -
No one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a "Holiday".
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-pod S
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully,
Choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Not Happy Holiday!

I know the poem sucks-Don't you think it's time to get back to what Christmas is all about?
When we start eliminating Christmas and it's true meaning from schools & society then it will be forgotten.
I posted it in hopes that maybe it will make us stop and think and do the right thing.

I feel you are completely correct in this. I do not know where you got it or if you were the one who wrote it,but it sure does hit home,at least with me. I always say MERRY CHRISTMAS and I have a problem with people who use x-mas by leaving out CHRIST is wrong,at least in my opinion,so to you I say MERRY CHRISTMAS and am glad you took the stand to post it for all to read. I have forwarded this on to others and hope they too will say MERRY CHRISTMAS from the top of their lungs!!!

A Christian writer put it best:

"It's hard to feel jolly when the person saying 'Merry Christmas' adds, 'Want to make something of it, punk?'"

You share your country with non-Christians 365 days a year; we do not go away for six weeks in winter. And your holiday is one of many celebrated in December. There are Christians in Darfur, India, and China who would love it if they had to hear "happy holidays" while shopping at the mall!

As a born-again Christian with left-leaning politics, I'm sick of extreme right-wingism that lumps all liberal causes and sentiments like diversity and sensitivity into one whole anti-Christian lump! To do this is to break the commandment: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor".

Stop listening to the Falwells and Robertsons and Coulters of this world, and listen to Jesus Christ!

Read Matthew 25 and tell me that Jesus is against helping the poor.

Read Revelation 7:9 and tell me that God is against diversity.

Read Matthew 17:24-27 and tell me that Jesus would never do anything "politically correct" in order to be sensitive and not to offend people.

BTW, if Jesus weren't "inclusive", he would not have told the story of the Good Samaritan, or spoken to a Samaritan woman in public, nor healed the Canaanite woman's daughter nor the Roman centurian's servant. And he wouldn't have spared the life of a woman caught in adultery, or said "Follow me" to Matthew the tax collector, or eaten at the tax collector Zacchaeus' house.

I'm jewish, but I see what you're saying. There's no religion in it anymore, it's all so commercial. I hope you have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, and I'll try to have a Happy Hanukkah.

The origin of Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus-look in any encyclopedia. Sorry to contradict you-I understand the point you are trying to get across.

How very true. I hate how the 20% of the population that is not Christian can dictate how the other 80% that DO believe and celebrate CHRISTMAS can display their beliefs.
