I am 8 weeks pregnant and have horrible morning sickness the only thing that works to settle my stomach is warm tea and saltines or ginger snaps... I have been sick all morning adn havent really ate much but now I havent thrown up for about an hour and a half adn I have been drinking warm tea. I have a salad in the refrigerator with ham, turkey, mushrooms, and italian dressing. Do you think it is safe to eat that or should I wait longer... I dont want to puke anymore today.......?

I dont miss those days at all!!!! It really depends. I mean I puked almost everything I ate but I still ate hoping that I would keep something down. The choice is yours but you know there is a chance you will get sick.

I feel for you....my morning sickness was BAD and lasted until about 16 weeks. (I'm 24 weeks now and thankfully feeling mostly alright!)
I found that the best things to eat were toast, crakers, dry cookies (like the ginger snaps) and also plain pasta or rice.
They filled up my tummy and rarely upset it, and if I did sick them up, at least they weren't acidic (like fruits, salad dressing, tomato sauce, juice, coffee, etc...) so it didn't hurt so much, didn't burn my throat and all that. But if I was in the mood for a particular food, I'd eat it, and just hope it would stay put!
If you're in the mood for that salad, I'd say go for it, but slowly, and maybe skip the dressing. If it's not really the salad that's calling to you, and it's more just to get something down, then I'd say stick with some starchy food and keep it absolutely PLAIN!
Whatever you decide to do, good luck.
Hope you're feeling better soon, and most of all, congratulations!

At least something helps you. I got sick at 6 weeks and stayed nauseaus and had vomiting for 3 weeks straight. Then contined to vomit for about 2 months after. The nausea eased after a while. Could not keep hardly anything down. Had it all day. I finally had to get medicine from the doctor. Lost 13 pounds 1st 2 months. Good Luck. What ever helps keep it up and don't push it.

I wouldnt go at it just yet. If I were like that i would maybe just eat the lettuce with maybe only a few pieces of ham and turkey. and a minimal amount of dressing. Take just one maybe two bites and and wait about fifteen minutes to see how your stomach reacts. Your stomach will let you know if you should continue or not. If you cant handle it just eat simple fruits.

Good luck

When I had morning sickness, I just ate "comfort" foods... soup, mashed potatoes, cereal... things that wouldn't upset my stomach. I found that a bit of sugar made me feel better. I would eat a piece of candy - twizzlers or gumdrops that would settle my stomach and then I was OK for the rest of the day and could eat whatever. I know it sounds strange, but it worked for me!

Also, be careful of deli meats... you can get sick from listeriosis... a lot of the baby books warn about that.

you should keep working on the salty crackers until you feel a little better. Another thing to try is sucking on peppermints- they can help settle your stomach. for the first 2 months of my pregnancy all i did was throw up.
try eating something lite, like toast before you jump in and eat a salad or anything else more solid.

I love my fireman,
If it were me I think I would try to stay with the more bland kid of food for the next couple weeks. Hang in there this will pass in a few weeks and then you will be eating everything including the kitchen sink.

listen to what your body is telling you. if you are hungering for the salad....it should be relatively safe to eat it. now that's NOT a guarantee that you won't hurl again today. but if you just feel like you need to eat for the sake of eating.....don't. your body will tell you what it needs. take care and congrats!

I know how you feel.
The only thing that helped me was mint hard candy - try that.
Go ahead and eat the salad :-)))
