Aren't they both the long way really.....because the short way is pretty much not an option here right? So in that that case I am going to take the detour. It should be clearly marked so I don't have too big a chance of getting lost.

Depends on how much time I have. If I am just out to get out and waist time I would take the long way but if I am running late and need to be someplace fast I would first curse and scream there is a detour to begin with then take it.

It depends. If I have the time, take the long route. If I've got a million other things to do, definitely the detour.
