Let me tell you what happened in class, its this black old lady that teaches the math class and everybody in the class talks about her but this one time this class clown name Michael and he is white and he said that she looks like a slave that was in his history book.Almost everybody started laughing yes including some black boys. I started thinking that was a racist comment but he didn't know any better because all the black people that were laughing were making it seem like it was ok for him to say that but in reality if he or they knew the history of slavery that wouldn't of even came out his mouth.Usually Im not the person to bring up somebody saying something racist but that got me thinking.Im not saing he is a racist all Im saying is he just happen to say something that was racist but if you think about it stills looks bad when a black person says it but it brings up alot of issues if a white person says it.What do you think? You can agree or disagree doesn't matter.

I don't think he meant it racially. He just said she looked like the lady in the book. If a black guy said, she looks like the slave in the book. You probably wouldn't have asked this question. Maybe he was making fun of her age(which isn't cool either, but that's what kids do) but maybe you are focused on the racial part.

Well, did she really look like the lady from the book? Or was he really trying to say "she looks like she would be a slave "? Either way, not a cool thing to say, but if the teacher was giving a lecture from the book, and she looks EXACTLY like a lady in a picture in the book, I'd probably say something, too. But, i wouldn't find it necessary to say the word "slave". Just like white people who feel it necessary to say "black guy" instead of "guy"...yunno what i'm saying?

I understand. I suppose he is probabl young. And I would have been annoyed if the Black kids laughed, but there all probably very young. It may not be a situation where he was trying to be racist. Just probably unintential. However, that doesnt make it less ignorant.

Who cares if the comment was 'racist' or not. Really is it going to change anything at the end of the day whether he had racist intent or not? I doubt it. Does he care what you think of him? I doubt that too.

It probably meant nothing, but don't think that just because people laughed that they weren't offended by it. I would only worry if some comment like that came up again--then you can consider it intentional.

It's not a racist comment. He commented that she resembled a person, that happened to be a slave.

Sounds like you go to school with some real stupid fools black and white, and yes in my opinion it was racists to me, I would've started a race war by the end of school, I went to school down south we didn't play that him and the black boy laughing would have no teeth.

I think it was inapropriate, but probably not racist. Racism comes from the heart not the mouth. You can ask him. Or educate him thats its not cool to talk about people in that way.
