in ffxii how do hell do you use a quickening attack??

been trying and trying and just cant figure it out ??all i do in the screen is tap x as fast as i can till the time bar expires . also sometimes the triangle button appears and something that says shuffle.

For better quickenings, get one (or more) for each character. Each character can have 3. Careful how you pick them up on the license board, or you may have your mage licensing armors or technickes to get more quickenings. Or vice versa. When you use the quickening, it will use your whole mp bar. It switches to a screen with a 4 sec countdown bar. If other characters have quickenings to use, you'll get the option to chain them together. where the shuffle option is (R2) in the lower right of the screen, you'll see quickening chain options. Press the corresponding button (tri, sq, circ) to add to the chain. Mist charge will refill an mp bar, so squeeze those in if you can. if you don't like the optioins, shuffle. You have 4 seconds to chain as many as possible together. My best chain so far is 11, but I've heard of a 13. If you get quickenings for 3 characters, and use those 3 in your party, the next time you try it you should see better options. Try it on a foe near a crystal so you can easily recharge, and try again until yoou have the hang of it.... Good luck!
