There are plenty of good jobs in IT, just depends on your aptitude, who you work for and what technology you are utilizing. the big demand is computer programmers. If you are willing to travel you can make pretty good money.

There are no good jobs in IT. It's like being a factory worker in a mill. Sorry, when I hear "IT" I think of poor suffering folk who need to keep things running under great pressure for low pay.

You want to get an education that will let you be some sort of a degreed engineer, like a software engineer or systems engineer. These are IT-related but are creative and productive, not like so many IT jobs which are lot more like being in some support/maintenance role.

Get a good degree from a good school, take advantage of internships while there, and work your tail off to get good recommendations when you interview.
