Well I don't think we have deeper voices, it's just a lot of the vowels we speak as a long vowel they speak with a short vowel and there accents just give them a higher voice like tomato we pronounce the a like ate, and well I can't think of any words with a short vowel the way we pronounce it but I think you get what I mean.

We do? News to me. But then I have a typical girl voice.
Oh, and we aren't all loud (despite incongru's opion) - some people just project more. Believe me, they annoy us here in the States too. The cell phones that they are constantly yelling into don't help either. It wouldn't be so bad if the loud types were at least interesting....but they never are sadly.

American women certainly have deeper voices, but so do Aussie women.

I think that some american men seem to have lower voices because they talk a little louder than brits so their voice reverberates (i think that's how it's spelt!) and sort of 'booms' so to speak.
ps. that's not me being mean towards americans.

I don't know about deeper but boy, they're certainly LOUDER!!!
I htink they "project" their voices more, and they don't seem to mind being overheard by the people sitting at the next table.

Not really sure. Some of my relitives thinnk i'm one of my brothers on the phone....i'm like 'nope'. I dunno if it has to deal with you family. I have four brothers and the only girl. alot of my female friends voice are higher pitched than mine is but its just something like hair color, freckles,skin color,eye color that we just can't help.
