Yup. It's very seldom a movie beating the book it's based on.

Yeah, usually the book is better. I know I have an example or two, but I can't think of them just now.
*Although I want to say that Stephen King's 'Firestarter' was a better movie, but that may be because I saw the movie too many times before I read the book. That can happen.

The book is usually better, but there are a few movies that are just as good as the book, even though a lot of stuff gets left out, like The Lord of the Rings movies.

Book is always better, but I recall that the movie "Angel Heart," based on William Hjortsberg's "Falling Angel," relocated part of the action to New Orleans, which did work better. Even Hjortsberg thought so.
But the film still couldn't cover the full breadth of ground that the novel could.
And, of course, the same could be said for untold numbers of other movies made from books.

The book is ALWAYS better. The only exception I think is the "Harry Potter" series. I don't think the movies are AS good as the books, but I think the movies are very good. You just have to remember going in that it's impossible to fit 1,000 pages of text into a 2 hour movie and that it's inevitable that things that you may think are important to the plot get cut out.

Most of the time the book is much better. I've seen a couple of Steven King movies that followed the book pretty closely. One of them was Night Flier. Cool, bloody movie.

I agree the book is usually better, that's why it's more fun to see the movie first,if you never read the book. Two exceptions (I feel) are The Exorcist and To Kill A Mockingbird, I thought they were true to the book.

Yes, usually the book is better, but I favored the movie Clockwork Orange over the book.

I actually enjoyed the movie Jane Eyre with Susan York more than the book, but it's a rare thing. Clockwork Orange was another, but I think that's because I saw the movie first.

When it comes to a full length book you are absolutely right. However many of Steven Kings short stories make great movies because the story is short enough yet detailed enough to make the movie the same as the story.

I never have seen a movie that I would consider better than the book itself.
