will the games for the new ps3 be in a different format to the ps2 or has sony been kind to my wallet?

actually Sony will not be kind to your wallet because the PS3 uses Blu-Ray discs for its games. Now this format is not able to play on any other system or player unless it is a blu-ray player.

Different format, but PS3 will play Ps2 and ps1 games anyway.

YES, Because PS3 Games are all HD... which wilol only play on a HD console i.e. PS3

However, The PS3 console will play all other lower grade games i.e. PS2 & PS1
