My mother gave it to me and I in turned gave it to my daughter. I would say no more then 8-12oz a day depending on how old your infant is.

Hello KD
I work for a local WIC Program, and Yes I have heard of given baby's Chamomile Tea for Colic, however WIC which standards for Women, Infant and Children does not recommend Tea. We sometime tell parents about the Mylicon Gas Drops for infant. I would recommend that you call your local WIC Program and ask to speak with a Nutritionist on the matter. Good Luck

The pediatrician I use for my two children is the same I used as a child and he has always recommends it right at the start of birth. Neither of my children, my oldest 10 and my youngest 10 1/2 months ever experienced colic or severe gassiness and I know it's because of this. When both of my children were born, to prevent overfeeding he told me to use the chamomille when my kids were wanting something and it wasn't quite time for the next feeding. If a doc is recommending it....it must be okay=D

Why don't you try Gripe Water (it is also kind of tea made with ginger, fennel and chamomile).
That was the only thing that made my son's colics better.
Good Luck!
Try this too:
Put some row rice into a cotton sock, tight it very well so the rice will not come out. Warm up the sock with the rice in the microwave (make sure it is not hot!) and put it on baby's tummy. It stays warm for about 10 min!

I honestly am not sure about Chamomile, but I tried just about everything with my colicy baby. My pediatrician suggested trying the formula "Nutramigen" It's made especially for colic babies - - it took 2 days and we haven't had a colic fit since....Worth a shot, it's a little on the expensive side but well worth it. We all have a happier and more comfortable home life.

no. Babies this young can not digest things as we adults would. This is why it is recommended to breastfeed exclusivly for 6 months.
Also, giving this tea could fill baby's small tummy and not leave room for the much needed nutrients found in breastmilk or formula. This could be an issue regaurding weight gain.
And just because a doctor recommends it doesn't make it so! Doctors are not God and do not know everything and you should always educate yourself and not blindly trust another to make your decisions for you! Some doctors are good and keep up with the latest studies but many older docs never change what they think even after years of research show differently.
I question my doc and she welcomes the questions and explins things and refers me to studies (as do I her) and through this process me and my family recive wonderful medical care!
excuse typos NAK

Chamomille is used for it's calming affect. I would check with your doctor before trying this remedy. My son was very colick and I found that the Enfamile Nutramagen formula and a baby swing worked wonders.
