I've been working in the lab for about ten years and I would like a change. Any ideas? I thought about a PhD....

That's a great education combo. You should probably look into pharmaceutical sales or something like that. Your chemistry background will make it very easy for you to understand the drugs and the MBA will help you attain upper-level, high profile sales positions.

Pharma-sales people make a ton of money.

killer boot obviously doesn't understand the value of hard science degrees and MBAs. With either, and especially with both, the world is your oyster. As long as you got your degrees from reputable universities you could do just about anything you want.

It's really amazing you're asking this question! With an MBA and hard science background, you can probably do anything you want to in healthcare, biotech, pharma, etc. Go into business development in biotech, become a strategic advisor in healthcare, etc. If you really want a change, I don't recommend the Ph.D.... my opinion is that the costs ultimately outweigh the benefits in both the short-term and long-term.

i hear waiting tables is lucrative.

why did you take these things if you didn't bother asking your question before you had gone all the way?
