That it's possible to fall in love with someone just based on IM and other forms of indirect electronic contact.

Nah, people tend to hide beind the screen. You can be a completely different person on IM and in person. Trust me - I've been there. Even if you "click" with someone on IM, but you have to think about physical attraction too. Once you meet this person you're supposedly "in love" with, and if he or she isn't remotely good-looking, you'll probably think twice.

falling in love is an act of the 'heart'. Being loving for permanently in a committed relationship is an act of the will. One can fall in love with the idea of being in love and think one is 'in love'. Doesn't make it so.

The electronic stuff gives a person an inkling of the character and nature of a person, but face to face and living through difficulties and delights is what allows you to grasp more fully the potential of a person and their suitability as a mate.

Meet somewhere and finding out who their extended family is - a requirement. It has worked for other people, but before rushing into anything, for goodness' sake, please take lots of time to do the full research.

Um, no not really.

You don't know what the person really is like - it is easier to say things to people when you aren't face to face. Making it easier to lie and pretend to be someone you aren't.

So I wouldn't advise you persuing a relationship strictly on IM or the internet unless it was something like EHarmony.

Anything is possible, but that doesn't make it smart.
