go to http://www.acwclub.com ... here they assign a title for a story which you make up as long as the title is what they want. You have until the 15th of each month to write the story and see if it wins the monthly contest. You don't get any money, but you can put the story on your website with a badge on the bottom that says "ACWclub.com Winner". The max word count is 2,500.

Good Luck...This month's title is "My Corner"

no one can give you an idea for a story. No one by you knows what you know. You have to writer about something you can feel strongly about.

Have you endured a loss, or a relatives long illness, a scare? What bothers you about society? Writer a story about someone bothered by that same thing, make it funny, sad, scary, or loving whatevery way you fly.

If you find you have to write another and another, and that you're always in the mood. You HAVE to write, then your a writer. Keep writing, but get writing help. Read some of the other posts for some good advice.

If its just a "mood" piece, write it (maybe a story from your childhood) and get it out of your system.

i don´t know if you´ll like this but i´ve always wanted to write a story like that, only i never did.
is like a circle: there is a problem that transcends the first character, and you focus on him and how the problem affects him, then there is interaction with a second character and you forget about the first one and focus completely on the second character and how the problem affects him, and so on, get the drift?
it can be fun because the characters can be all sorts of people -or even animals, like the fish another person said- like a rich man and a hobo and the interaction happens when the rich man gives the hobo some lose change. and it has to be dynamic: the characters must be in constant movement. that is very important.
and at the end, what closes the circle, is the solving of the problem by the last character and the interaction between the last and first characters, him seeing the problem solved and he starts thinking about a new problem.
about the problem, i´m not talking global warming or peace process in the middle east, must be small, seemingly insignificant.
and another thing, what we know of the characters, of course, it´s what they´re thinking. like a chain of small monologues with themselves.
i hope you like my idea. if not...that´s ok too.
please let me know if you write anything, i´d love to read it. bye :D

Some sort of adventure story in the mould of Indiana Jones. I like the Idea of having a few countries involved ala James Bond. There should be all the usual pieces used such as bad guy, lovely lady and faithful assistant oh and some bit part character who invariably dies. It would please me greatly if there was a monkey in the strory, don't know why , just came into my head there.

What about something light hearted and fun. Write about roguish elves and naughty fairies, Wayward Santa's and silly strangers who do silly things at Christmas parties. Go with a festive one... and enjoy. P.s. Will you post the story when finished so we can give our opinion?....

I normally go through the alphabet, and think of subjects that way, example, "F" Friends, family. "

At this time of year, how about Christmas, and what it means to you.

Any happy, or sad, memories you may have.

Even this answer !.

Try the alphabet first though, it really works for me when writing.
