I'm just wondering if racism/discrimination is the downfall of black people today? Was this downfall intended by the white society?

I would have to say yes and no. When the black slaves came to this country they were stripped of their names, language, pride, etc. This stripping and degradation continued and recycled itself for 400 years. And even after the emanicipation proclamation, there was still segregation and lynching. So whites have degraded and dehumanized blacks, they separated black families, etc. and thus the cycle continued into what we have today with the blacks.

However, blacks today need to stop blaming whites and take responsiblity for their own actions. They need to wake up and realize that there condition is no accident and strive to better themselves as a people instead of perpetuating a stereotype.

Whoever said there was a downfall of black people in today's modern times?!! Each person is in charge of their own destiny, and I believe that no matter what color you are you can change for the better. Each race has people from all different walks of life, different successses and failures, opinions and views. A entire group of people that are classified or grouped together as one race cannot all be blamed for a problem. This is called stereotyping which is an ignorant thing to do.

I am white and I have black and Hispanic family. I'm sorry that horrible things happened in the past and that people were degraded and treated horribly because of their skin color. However, that is something that I as a person should not be blamed for just because I am white. No, white society didn't want the fall of black society. I choose not to separate our society by race, I feel that we are all one society in the United States of America and we are all people that are all God's children. My ancestors are Native American....and they suffered many grievances when England first came over to claim America. Does this mean I should blame England if some white people today struggle or are going through a "downfall"---HECK NO!

Each individual has the ability to change things and determine their sucess in life.

Peace.

Please don't put all black people as you did into your question.

There are plenty of white people who can overlook racism/discrimination and give Black people the break they deserve and plenty of white people who work hard at making sure that black people receive the same opportunities as white people.

I am aware of many black men who are finding it very difficult to find employment and they have a very good education and skills. I decided to look over their resume because a lot of them were not being called in for interviews for jobs that they were very well educated for. Once I changed there place of residence to a different area of the city than which they lived, the calls for interviews were coming in rapidly.

They then got the chance like others to sale themselves at the interview like other white candidates. Most are employed now but others are still finding it hard to be hired by other white males.

Black females find it easier to get hired by white males or female employers.

I see racism/discrimination all the time at my place of employment when it comes to hiring. They recently, well years ago, only started hiring more minorities when companies requested information on their minority status. Once the company met some type of standard on this, the companies began purchasing goods again.

It is a shame that it works this way but any support that helps companies to see that they can run/work efficiently with minorities at the control is well deserved.

Best of luck.

Well, yes and no. Part of the downfall of blacks is because of their own ignorance. I'm black, and I will be graduating validictorian of my class; so not all blacks are affected by others' ignorance. But whites do have certain authorities to where they can make blacks give up in life and go downhill. If there was not a such thing as racism, maybe there WOULD be more educated, dedicated, sophisticated blacks. But there is no such thing as NO RACISM so everyone, not just blacks, need to do what's right for them, and stop worrying about others.

Look at the african countries today controlled by war lords who are black and not white, do you see conditions better in africa for black people? Whenever a black college graduate with a successfull career tries to give the black community a pep talk, they degrade that graduate and make racial slurs about that person being "white". Until the black community decides to make education a priority, you wont see the situation improve. You can not blame this on any other racial group!!!

Black peoples downfall began when they started expecting restitution for slavery and slowly the older generations poisoned the younger generations minds into believe that this world owed them something, it's sad but true. I'm from a generation of freeman dated back over 150 years so my family never expected anything I'm from a family of hard workers, farmers, lumberjacks, carpenters, bricklayers and mechanics so it depends on the person. There are some proud black people out there who are doing just fine and not at all worried about the white man.

What do you mean by condition ? Which black people are you talking about ? Please clarify.

I know some who are well educated and I know others who are not.

I know some who are morally inclined and I know some who are not.

I know some who are economically distressed and I know some who are not.

Racism/discrimination can have an impact on a person's thoughts and feelings if that person chooses to allow it.

The downfall of any person of any nationality is being controlled by what others think.

I know some people who are like this and I know some who are not.

(Speaking about the U.S....) I don't think it is as much racism/discrimination as it is an entitlement mentality and the mindset in black people that white people are racist/discriminatory and out to get them or keep them down. I think the opportunities are out there for everybody and individual people (white or black or whatever) have to take it upon themselves to act and take advantage of the opportunities that are there. - - - Of course, that's coming from a white guy, so what do I know other than reading lots of books.

Yes in a way this statement is correct, because slavery affected everything. Racism / Discrimination against black people still exist today in the U.S. It is still an uphill battle to be treated equally and to escape the stereotyping which was handed down from slavery.

whilst individuals are so caught in a attitude of defeat instead of empowerment then no longer something improves! That is going for individuals in each race in each u . s . a .! I even have discovered from experience there comes a element the place you as a individual would desire to take duty to your guy or woman strikes and how existence seems relies upon on the type you take care of hardships and dissappointments. you may get bitter or you may get shifting! it incredibly is like that T-shirt with the Frog with it incredibly is arms wrapped around the Crane's neck : under no circumstances provide up!
