Have you heard about this incident, and what do you think about it? Personally, I think it seems pretty hypocritical of her, given that she just went off on Kelly Ripa and accusing her of being homophobic for saying something to Clay Aiken. Here's one article on it:

Good variety of comments so far. :) Sounds like people are on various points on the spectrum. Now I have a few more questions: Are celebrities suffering from foot-in-mouth syndrome, or are they just trying to draw attention? Should comedians stay away from race, ethnicity, and culture when telling jokes, or is that fair game?

Can you imagine how Rosie would react if a blanket statement about gays was made? I used to really like her, but she's shown her true colors. She's a total hypocrite - not just in this situation, either. I find it extremely ironic that she claims to be so anti-gun, yet has armed guards for her family. I guess that's the old "do as I say, not as I do" thing....

Making fun of a culture and then giving a HALF-*** apology is just disgusting!!! She should be reprimanded like anyone else.
One thing people forget is that racism can happen against any race. What some people think is funny could be offensive to others. Anyone in the publics eye needs to sensitive to these issues regardless if they are a comedian or not.

eek!!!!! ouch Rosie! she really needs to watch it, I think the view is gonna kick her off soon b/c she is really causing some problems with what she has been saying. that's not cool, the Asians are gonna be ticked at her! Now as far as that clay Aiken thing goes I do think she was way off on that and Kelly had every right to say. "i don't know where those hands have been" and why Rosie took that as a gay bash, I don't know! I like Rosie but lately she has been kind of a loud mouth.

Uggh! I purely hate the "incorrect tummy" rationalization of adoption. thank you to make a newborn experience thoroughly inadequate and incorrect -- as though his existence have been a mistake from the very beginning up! Arrrggh! i don't care what your ideals are approximately God, that's incorrect to make a newborn think of he became into conceived by using the incorrect human beings or that his parentage is a "mistake" or "combination up". as though the lack of ability of his first relatives isn't sufficient, he's disregarded with the concept that it became into basically a "combination-up"? Appalling! As to the "i choose a daddy" rationalization. properly, i'm no massive fan of Rosie -- she seems to be fairly egotistical and looks to not think of too lots bearing directly to the sentiments of others (witness the Ching Chong comments a 365 days or so in the past) -- yet properly, i'm hoping that became into purely the interview or the modifying. i think of her reaction may well be super IF she had prefaced it by using asserting that it became into organic to choose a daddy, had asked him what made him think of roughly that, had referred to to him all the adult males in his existence who love him, and so on. If that quote have been her basically reaction, then which would be incorrect and dismissive of his emotions -- so I basically wish she had a lots longer and greater empathetic reaction -- yet purely mentioned that area interior the interview to be "humorous." (not)

Ha! Ha! Ha! That is so NOT funny, Rose!
I immensely dislike Rosie O'Donnell.back when she first started her talk show years she was more down to earth.
It just seems like since she came out of the closet she has been a real @ss.
Lately she can't seem to keep her big trap shut!
Every time she opens her mouth something ridiculous comes spilling out.
I have been keeping my fingers crossed that she'll go out on one of her (Gay) Family Cruise lines & become lost at sea.
Certainly no one will be looking for her!! :o)

I don't think that she intentionally tried to hurt anyone, she wasn't thinking and was trying to be funny but it just came out wrong...comedians use certain "taboo" words to make fun of their own race and the audience laughs because they know they aren't malicious or intentional...however if someone says those "taboo" words in a hurtful way towards another race, it's racist....just from my own experience...

funny how when Kelly Ripa says something she's a homophobe, but when Rosie does it, it's defended as being a joke, because she's a comedian as well as a co-host.
she's a complete hypocrite!

I think it was very rude on her behalf knowing what is going on in regards to race today especially with the Richards episode, etc. I'm really getting tired of Rosie's outbursts, I mean seriously how much attention does she want?

Making fun of the way people speak is a very sensitive thing and probably is better left alone. Rosie's remark was insensitive and she should apologize.

Rosie is a comidian, so we shouldn't take everything she says so serious. When Cris Rock makes a joke about white people we all lagh and it doesn't make the news. Not sure if he is racisit or not and don't care he's funny. I'm white and I laugh. Now that she is on "The View", she needs to be serious. News Flash "The View" is a joke. Get over it people, it is funny that it is taken so serious.
