Any site suggestions or links to sites for authors to "publish" their stories online and get feedback?

I'm only looking for free sites...thanks!

Depending on how honest of feedback you want there are a few sites to choose from:

www.writing.com

www.authorsden.com

as with any material you put on the net, once it's there it's considered a reprint. IF you don't worry about selling your work to pro paying markets the above sites will get you feedback rather quickly

I know of one such site, but they only critique Sci Fi/Fantasy/Horror stories/novels. Yes it is free, you "pay" by doing critiques for others. Url below.

I have heard of others, but the only other group I'm aware of is the property of a writers group and you have to be a member to participate. I'll put that one below too.

I do suggest that you join a writers group, get a writers guide (Writers Digest is a good choice but not the only one) go to workshops and attend conferences. Not cheap but worth every cent if you attend one aimed at writers and not readers.

You're on the right road by wanting feed back. Good luck.

www.fictionpress.com or if your into story's based on T.V. shows, movies, books or such www.fanfiction.net.

BUT if you can scrap up, I forget exactly how much, I think its like $25 you can either buy a Writers Market book at the book store or get it on line for one year. ( I think you get to go on line as well if you buy the book) That's got lots of publishers in it. If you can't get the cash - which I totally understand - then get down to the nearest public library! Most of them have a Writer's Market Book in there somewhere!
Thank God for library's!

I reccomend writersdigest.com. Not only does it offer sites and tips for self publishing, but it also has a great variety of other useful writers tools. I use it myself and I love it!

I really like Writers Cafe, it has an excellent community of writers who actively read each others work and comment.
