It will be a tough trade. He is a steal for the contract he has compared to what lame pitchers like Meche and Eaton are getting on today's market, but the red sox's will want too much for him and I don't see it happening, again. Unless, some American League team like the Angels find a way to make it happen. Would be a good fit for them to have Vlad Guerrero and Manny back to back in the line-up. If they do trade him then look for David Ortiz to set a major league record for walks next year. Huge downgrade to exchange Manny for J.D. Drew in the line-up.

Earlier this year, Gary Sheffield was traded from the Yankees to Detroit for a couple of top-flight prospects.
The Red Sox viewed Manny as valuable. They are both productive, and while Manny is a headcase and a whiner, Sheffield is a jerk and combative. The figured they could find another team as stupid as Detroit was.
Unfortunately, in a league that is well known for there's-always-a-bigger-idiot, it appears there isn't one just yet.

Manny was quoted in the Cleveland Plain Dealer as saying he would like to come back to Cleveland the team which he came up through. Although I do not see the Indians dishing out this kind of money to obtain Manny I would love to see him be in the lineup with hitters like Hafner, Grady and Victor among the other hopeful young hitters the Indians have in their lineup and see the kind of impact Manny could bring to a struggling franchise.

From the Boston Globe, today ...
"Edes expects Manny back ...
From the Globe's (Red Sox writer) Gordon Edes: Guess we can't call this thing dead, but unless someone has a major change of heart, I would expect to see Manny back in a Sox uniform. The Sox basically asked the Dodgers for a combination of three, or in some cases four, of their best seven prospects. The Dodgers balked, and are now likely to turn their attentions to Vernon Wells, who is considerably younger, is much better defensively and might be worth parting with some prospects. Maybe the Padres reconsider, or the Mets jump in late, but I think both of these scenarios are pretty doubtful. "

I heard that Boston was interested in Jake Peavey and Adrian Gonzalez from the padres for Manny. I don't thinks the padres will do anything like that though. I think manny will stay in Boston because they want way to much for him.
