I've tried two programs (Ad-aware and Xoftspy) to remove this virus from my system, and from what I've been reading, this is a really dangerous virus. I don't want to resort to paying a huge wad of cash for software simply because I'm in the market of purchasing a new computer. Does anyone know of any effective, free programs that can be used to take care of this problem ASAP?

Thanks in advance.

Well, you are trying to remove a trojan by using 2 anti-spyware apps (Ad-aware and Xoftspy). Not very effective, I'm afraid. Try these 2 free online scans and see if it solves the problem:

1. Scan for virus and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

http://www.bitdefender.com/site/home/

2. Scan for trojans and remove (free online scan) with Ewido

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from Trendmicro. When I have tested it it takes some time to run it but it may be time well spent if it can fix any problems.

Download and run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

If TrendMicro can not fix it try...

Download HijackThis---http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php#hijackthis. Run and Save a Log. When you log comes up copy and paste the entire log at http://www.hijackthis.de/ . Analyze your results. You will then get a screen that will tell you if you have any nasty stuff in your computer. Follow instructions to deal with any nasties. CAUTION: This is a very powerful tool. Be careful.

Here is a removal tutorial for the virus.

This virus produces only moderate damage but allows a keylogger to infiltrate your system. God Bless and Good Luck with the removal process.

If its as bad a virus as you are say, the only REAL way to get rid of it is by formatting your HD and reinstalling the OS.
