Can games that were meant for the nintendo wii play on the regular Gamecube? i need to know... and if you could find this out for me, the Legend of zelda: the Twilight Princess came out today, and my friend said that it was for the wii. does anyone know if it is for the gamecube as well?

im sorry, but wii games cannot be played on the gamecube, but gamecube games can be played on the wii. and the legend of zelda/twilight princess came out today. i also have a gamecume, but i got a wii for christmas.(opening it on christmas, its already bought) i cant wait to play it. im sorry, i shouldnt be rubbing it in. but if i were you, id see if you could upgrade to a wii... its truely better.

No, Wii games cannot be played on the Gamecube. If they could, there'd be no point in buying a Wii in the first place.
The reason that people can get Twilight Princess for the Gamecube is because a separate version of the game is being released for the Gamecube. (The Wii version of the game came out last month, with the Wii's launch.)

The Twilight Princess came out for the Gamecube today and it will work for the GC and the Wii. There are 2 versions of Tw and the one made for the Wii takes advantage of the special controller for the Wii while the one for GC will use the regular GC controller. Games for the "newer" consoles never work for the older consoles while, lately, the older games usually work for the newer consoles. for example, ps1 games work on the ps2 but not the other way around. Same for Xbox and xbox360.
edit** The TP for the gamecube and Wii are mostly the same in gameplay and exactly the same in story. :)
It's called backwards compatible and the previos post said it all, if the new discs worked for the older system there's be no reason for all of us gamers to get a new system! ;)

no you can not play wii games on a gamecube but you can play gamecube games on a wii. the zelda game that was relased today is the gamecue version which is different (but not by much im guessing) from the wii version which was released last month.

no wii games will not play on the gamecube but gamecube games will play on the wii (but you will want tht classic game controler)
twilight princes is out for gamecube
go to the nintendo site (nintendo.com)
them games scroll to the bottom and click on the master game list and they will have that and everything else for the gamecube and wii

it wont work in the gamecube. there is a version coming out for the gamecube but its not out yet

no actually it's the other way around,gamecube games are played on the Wii.i believe that zelda is also for the gamecube.
