I don't want to alienate the people I work with or cause a rift between them and I but I would like to bring her. She's dominant so it's obvious were lovers. I'm really confused.

If the invitation open to all spouses then, she has just as much right to attend as any other spouse. I work in a very conservative industry and I have taken my partner to any event where spouses will also be in attendance. I introduce him as my partner in a very causal way. I show that it is not a big deal and no have ever said the feel alienated. If you seem uncomfortable other will pick up on that and also be uncomfortable.

My partner and I are in the same situation. We passed on the Christmas parties. This is why:

It's your JOB you're talking about here. Your LIVELIHOOD. Where your money comes from.

I'm all for making a stand but this place in your life needs to be protected. Yes, things are getting better for us all the time, and the day will definitely come when the younger ones will take their partners with them no questions asked....But if you feel the slightest bit uncomfortable (and you do, or you wouldn't have posted this question), don't do it........There' other places for you to make a stand for the cause....

Hope that Helped.....

I am in favor of love. If you love this person you show show them that you love them by taking them to this party. It hurts the feelings of others to be kept hidden. Take her to the party. Those that would fee a rift are not people to be considered. Those that don't are better to know any ways. And showing your love that you love her, is just the best step, always.
My two cents.

You're co-workers know you're lesbian? So take you're girlfriend to the party and have a good time.

If you're out, why not bring her?

If you're not, maybe you should bring her anyway. People's spouses and partners can be very surprising--"How did he end up with *her*?" Maybe you have more LGBT co-workers than you thought!

If there's another queer person in your workplace, you can talk to him or her. Or talk to your boss.

You go. You bring your partner. You have an awesome time and you smack a few bigoted bitches if anyone gives you a problem. You don't want to associate with anyone who is going to be alienated by this.

Have a great time. Merry Christmas.

well if you are not out yet, or don't plan to do that at work. Just find an excuse like you didn't have a spouse at the moment...Depends on what u really want

I would maybe ( if you're comfortable with this) go to your boss and explain your situation and see if he/she thinks your co workers are ready for that sort of thing.

Just don't wear one of those stupid Christmas sweaters....and try to stay sort of sober at the party.

Have a good time!

you go? as much as many Republicans or even people in general preach ''hate'' against homosexuals, thanksfully most of them have gay friends (hell, even Bush does or what about Cheney's lesbian daughter?) and do not hate gays individually. I'm sure your colleagues won't change their attitudes towards you...we're all grown-ups after all...
Good luck for everything :-)
