The definition for capital in the context you are using it states that: "Human capital is the attributes of a person that are productive in some economic context. Often refers to formal educational attainment, with the implication that education is investment whose returns are in the form of wage, salary, or other compensation. These are normally measured and conceived of as private returns to the individual but can also be social returns.

Strictly speaking education is the most valuable type of capital you can have. It doesn't depreciate, isn't subject to market fluctuations, can't be taxed, but can be passed on to your children.
An education gives you so many options -- consider, for example, that just a few generations ago, the ability to read and write, and cipher to the rule of ten (basic arithmetic) was deemed all that most men needed. And it was questionable if women needed even that much. Working class children routinely left school at around 15 years of age, and found a laboring job of some sort, which they usually stayed with until they retired.
In modern times, education is valued -- and rightly so! All the advances in computers and electronics, in medicine and research, in high-tech business sectors, would be impossible without an educated work force -- and highly educated, not just minimum knowledge necessary to survive.
As you can tell by looking at the 'help wanted' ads, people with specialized skills earn far more and have much more interesting jobs. In fact, there are very few (if any) jobs today that require nothing more than a grade six or a grade eight education.
My feeling on the subject? Education is like money in the bank. And the more you add to it, the more valuable it becomes.

In the sense that the better educated you are the higher compensation you can ask for from your employer.
