You actually do not need a lawyer to do this. If it is well written and specific, then all you need to do is type it up and have it notorized. What is the power of attorney for? If you need any help just let me know. I have done several dozen of them. Just need all the right guts in it and then have it notorized in your state.

You may be able to save some money -- many states will allow a paralegal specialist to prepare a power of attorney for you, and paralegals charge a heck of a lot less than lawyers do. It's worth looking into. Remember, most states require you to sign a power of attorney in front of a notary public -- if that's the case in your state, most banks have at least one notary public who will notarize the power of attorney for a fee (usually $10.00 or so).

Do some web homework and you won't need an Attorney to get a POA. If its simple and short term POA, you can get forms from web sites like findlaw.com, or most states have POA forms for their state - go to state court web page click on court forms - POA and there you go. If you have a complicated POA with lots of real estate, bank accounts, trusts, etc., yeah then go to an Attorney and get help so you don't leave out anything. There is a CD with lots of legal forms that I use all the time, you can buy it for $6.99, called "Legal Wise," well worth the price. http://www.angelfire.com/planet/emailattorney Good luck with your POA!

That depends upon the attorney and the complications of the document. I generally charge about $150 for P of A. It takes about one hour of work to prepare it.
