You were hired for a big project. Your the only one in your department as they created this position to take care of the big project. The project is pretty much finished and your boss knows it. You really dont have much to do and are getting paid to basically come in, take care of a couple of things, and hang out on Yahoo Answers. Do you say something to your boss ? If so, what ? And if you dont say anything, why ?

I would sit down and talk to the boss; ask him if there is another project he would like you to work on or if there is something else for you to do. If not, tell him you appreciate having the opportunity to work with him and give two weeks notice. If he wants you to stay, he'll let you know; if not, it's time to move on.

Instead of wasting the company's time on Yahoo Answers, ask your boss what else you can do to help out the department. Doing that shows you have initiative, are conscientious, and helpful.

Sounds like December here for me. I'm in the energy business and December is way slow and at times I wonder why I come into the office. My boss knows it but they pay me for my expertise so I have no problems with answering questions to pass my time, of course being the VP helps to, lol!
