When your ranked #1 every team you play brings their best game of the year. He plays the tuffest posistion in the game, they are undefeated, still #1 and playing in the Championship game. He deserves it!

The post season awards are hard to judge. Troy Smith definitely deserved the Heisman award leading the number one team throughout the year while beating two #2 teams during OSU's great season. Granted Quinn had slightly better numbers (touchdown wise) but like the other points made, he didnt play very good competition and in the big games (USC and Michigan) he performed below expectations while Troy Smith never disappointed.
The same argument can be made why Laurinatis won the Nagurski award (nations best defensive player) but did not win the Butkis award (nations best linebacker) I believe that the post season awards should be consistent in each category.

The guy has lead his team to wins in every big game he has played in and is undefeated this year. Yeah I say give it to the guy. Brady Quinn is overrated, N.D. beat no good teams this year.

They both played Michigan so lets compare those stats:

T. Smith, QB 29-41, 316 yds 4 TDs, 1 INT
B. Quinn, QB 24-48, 234 yds 3 TDs, 3 INTs

Looks like 1 more 1 td and 2 less ints for Mr. Smith plus a 20% better completion rate. Not to mention the Buckeyes won the game and the Troy Smith led offense scored twice as many points as the Quinn led one against the same defense.

Im a huge Notre Dame fan
but Troy smith was such a good plaer this year
dont get my wrong, so was Brady Quinn
but the Maxwell really deosnt seem to like running quater backs
plus Notre Dame needed Brady Quinn more than Ohio State to Troy Smith

No doubt. First of all its Brady Quinn. He won the Maxwell based solely on stats. He had more passing yards, more per game, and more TD's. Smith won the Heisman because he had great stats, BUT he was also a leader, explosive and exciting player to watch, and took his team to the National Championship.

Well I think that Troy Smith is a really good player. Its obvious. He probably was the right choice for the award, but I really really like Brady Quinn, and it would have been great to see him win it. But overall, I think that Troy did deserve it.

That stuff happens all the time. Remember when Jason White got the Maxwell award and Matt Leinart got the Heisman? This year since Peterson got hurt, it just went to the runner-up.

Yes, he definitely deserved the Heisman Trophy. He led the OSU team this season very far, and did a great job!

Quinn got the Maxwell because the Maxwell voters are morons.

well, realistically almost noone who wins it deserves it. i mean the BEST player in the country is most likey a lineman or a linebacker. But, i think troys very good, much better than quinn, but Mcfadden was the best skilled position player in the country.
