There is no Benefit to reving any engine... Before shutting it off.
The guys back in the day with high HorsePower Carb engines had all kinds of reasons for rev'ing their engines before shutting down... None are or where true. Extra wear on the motor maybe but not much.
And like you said " some got their accelerater pump stuck and flooded engine out..."
On a Fuel injection motor makes no difference just uses more Fuel... Might sound cool if they have performance exhaust.

Maybe just spooling the alternator up to put a stonger charge on the battery. But other then that I belive reving just a waste of gas, oil and wear and tear on parts.

actually it doesn't do any harm nor any good, except to waste gas, because your engine is already hot and the water pump is already pumping water to cool the engine. The only real good it does is too somewhat clear out the cylinders of fuel. also if your car/truck is old enough & has glass packs/straight pipes its good for making the neighbors mad at you...lol..been there/done that

Yes. Wasting gasoline. It's no more good for his car than putting sugar in his gas tank. It does nothing but waste gas. and any oil he thinks he's circulating is going to be right back in the oil pan within minutes.

i dont think that it would change anything. all of the fluids should be running in your car from it being in motion already. when you get ready to cut it off there is no purpose for reving it up.

before autos had fuel injection ,.1985.the reason for revving before shutdown was to leave fuel in the carb. for the next startbecause of mechanical fuel pumps which are now electrical

It's not beneficial, nor detrimental.
Some people do it because it sounds cool, and they're trying to show off.
