I'm trying to plan ahead and come up with some names before my baby is born (I'm due on Jan 15). The sex of the baby is going to be a surprise. My husband really likes Finnegan for a boy (we'd use Finn for short) but I'm not really sold. Our last name is Ryan so I think he would end up being called Ryan a lot if the first name could be a last name, since it often happens to my husband and his name wouldn't be a last name. It also reminds me of Casey and Finnegan for all you Mr. Dressup fans out there.

So what you think about Finnegan Ryan?

Finnegan is really a cool name in my opinion, however it doesn't go well with Ryan. The "n" sound at the end of both names makes it too matchy and sounds like a rhyme almost. How about Finlee? You could still call him Finn and it goes better with the last name Ryan. Congrats on your little guy!

I just found out I am pregnant and me & my husband don't agree on a lot of names so I understand how you are feeling! The rule with us is that we BOTH have to like it. You should both make a list of what you like and review it together. If you're not sold on Finnegan (I LOVE Finn by the way), maybe it could become a middle name and you will decide on another first name together. My boy name choice? Grady.

Finnegan is a great name - two of my friends just named their boys Finnegan, Finn for short - but it doesn't work well with Ryan. Keep brainstorming.

I do not like the name Finnegan. I think you are right that he will get made fun of alot with that name. Sorry. It goes with your last name Ryan, but if you do not like it don't use it. You will be calling this son of yours Finnegan or Finny for a long long time. You better like the name 100 percent. I have four kids by the way. Good luck to you.

I like Finnegan, but I don't like the double a-n of FinnegAN RyAN. Maybe Connar? Are you looking for an Irish name?

Finn Ryan? I don't like it.

I really like that name. Though I don't really know if you should have both names end with the same consonant. Definietly keep Finnegan though, that's a fabulous name. Or do what my hubby and I did and have a few names set aside, but wait to make a final decision until you see your precious baby and decide what best suits him or her.

Congrats!!!

It's really cute, but you're right. He would definatly be called Ryan Finnegan alot. What about another irish name like Keaton, etc.

I am not sold on Finnegan either. It does flow well with Ryan though. Don't use it, if you don't like it. You and your hubby will find something you both agree on.
