give him the yucky stuff first (meats and veggies), then after he eats those well, give him the yummy stuff. Dont give in! He'll eventually learn the whole "do good, get a reward" thing. And don't worry about him starving. If he's hungry, he'll eat!

My son now 10 1/2 mons. did the same thing at that age. I tried everything... A bite of fruit and a bite of veggies worked for a while but he got the hang of that. I started givig him canned sliced carrots, whole green beans, Finger foods he seemed to like the independence more that let what he was eating bother him. Also at that age if he is chewing well i would try gerber grads. veggie puffs anything will be better than nothing... Also my son is over it now.. he eats everything. i think its just sweet tooth for fruits.

My pediatrician actually had me not give my daughter any of the fruit babyfood until she had developed a good eating pattern with the veggies since the veggies don't taste as good. HOWEVER since you have already started the fruits i would say to just go ahead and do a bite of veggies in with the bites of fruits. Also veggies like sweet potato and carrots are a little bit sweeter..you can get the mixed fruit and veggies also. As far as the meat my daughter HATED it from the beginning..i was worried but the doctor assured me that meat isn't vital in the growing i actually mashed up tofu for her to add nutrition and she is a very healthy 3 year old now that still isn't to fond of meat but LOVES veggies and tofu...hahaha..

He will eat them when he is ready.
Under the age of one the only thing your baby NEEDS is breastmilk/formula. Everything else is just for fun, not nutrition. NEVER turn food into a battle that just isn't healthy in the long run.
Also try giving him what you are eating. I never did baby food. That stuff is icky tasting. My baby eats what I eat. Sometimes he eats tonnes, some time he plays with it. He loves steak, chili, burritoes, pineapple, brocolli, strawberries, pineapple, etc. And he enjoys spicy food and garlic among other seasonings. Just cut back on the amount of salt you cook with, it is good for you and baby.

So leave him be, he will be stealing everything off your plate soon enough!

Try a can of mixed vegis -- they are a little softer. If you have tasted some of the baby food, you wouldn't eat it either. As for the meats, have you tried Vienna sausages? All my kids and grandkids would eat those. Don't fret tooooo much over the meat right now.

my son is 8 months old too....he only has two little teeth so he can't chew......we use the little Gerber or Del Monte jar foods...number 2. We tried some number 3 the other day but he couldn't chew it.....if it is lumpy or it won't dissolve....chances are your son isn't ready for it either.....how many teeth does he have....
As for him not liking something....."The experts" say that you just have to keep trying because one day they might like something and the next day they don't.....I know that my son may think he doesn't like something but if I make a production and do the "Oh, yummy...yummie....yummie routine....he buys it and usually eats it pretty well. Delmonte has things like Apples & Chicken, or Turkey and Pears...little mixes like this that make the "meat" issue easier to deal with... Good luck!!!

I think people make a big deal over this, let them eat what they want these are only practice foods, your can try things like the sweet potatos, sqash, and the chicken and apples things like that. These food are not serving alot of nutients to them, read the label you will be surprized. kids come around to eating and trying new things as the get in to older toddler age.
