Try and give me some lesser known ones if you can. I'm already familiar with the more well known ones, i.e. taboo, balderdash, pictionary, monopoly, cranium, etc.

Assuming you want all five kids able ot play the same game at the same time, here are some good 5 player plus games, and my guess at appropriate minimum age:

Alhambra - 9-10
Carcassone- 7-8
Pick Picknik - 5
Mystery of the Abbey - 8-9
Ticket to Ride - Ages 8-9

If you can afford to try giving the kids all $25 gift cards. It should total $125. If you can't afford to do that then you could send a Christmas movie like (elf) and a bunch of goodies for them to enjoy while watching it. Kids of all ages love the Christmas candies and cookies. Christmas is really for kids so don't worry so much about the adults. They will understand if you are on a tight budget. They want what most parents do and that's for the kids to be made to feel thought of and special. There are alot of great family games out there to choose from as well. There is also a dvd version of Clue.

Slam Dunk Answer: Apples to Apples

Super easy to learn. Super fun to play. Even the "I hate to play games" people end up having a great time. Everyone plays on every hand so there's no "when is it my turn?" complaining. There are versions for kids as young as seven. It's designed for 4-10 players.

I love this game and have played it with many people of all ages. It is a total blast! It's amazing to hear people's choices. You learn a lot about people, particularly the young ones in the group. You can even make your own cards so you can customize it to your family, friends, location, etc.

The classics such as Sorry, Parchesi, UNO Attack is hilarious to play as well. They have Disney Trival Pursuit which is very good. Gives the kids a good shot at beating the parents on that one. :-)

While these are more card and dice games, you may want to try Skip-bo, Yahtzee, Phase 10 and Phase 10 dice. I have played all four and think that most pre-teens and teens would like them.
