First of all, i'm not depressed it's my firneds. Two of them have started to self-harm, and people in my large group of friends are being all emotional and depressed. Sometimes I think I have to help them and understand Ihow they feel, but then i think, they don't have any reason that I know of to be depressed and they won't go to a doctor or anything. Me and my closest friend have decided to not let it get to us, but it's starting too. I don't want to be upset all the time, I know it's sounds crazy but it's kind of spreading and I've had moments where i feel really upset, but I know that's mostly just hormones. I just wish everyone could be happy again, like me! HELP! I'm 13 nearly 14 by the way

first of all, can i just explain to you that real depression is an illness, its not the same as just feeling depressed over something like most people do at one point or another. if your friends actually have real depression then they would need to be seen by a doctor to be properly diagnosed and treated, possibly with anti depressants. I think you're right in saying some problems can be caused by hormones and the fact you are at an awkward age with a lot of pressures, but If your friends are self harming i would say they do have mental health problems and need professional help.i can understand you are worried about them, but If they wont agree to see a doctor im not sure what else you can do, is there someone you can confide in like a parent or teacher who could help?
