It sounds like you are doing most things right, but you don't mention tank temps. They should be around 75-80F, with basking sites at 90F. Cold temps are a common problem.

Try various live 'fish foods' from the local mega pet shop- small fish, 'bugs' (not mealworms), worms, live shrimp or other small crustaceans, snails, etc.

Keep in mind that small turtles have both small mouths and small appetites.

Just FYI- baby Painteds do not eat any fruits or veggies. Wait until it gets over about 4".

Also- big changes stress turtles. If you just got it a week or so ago- just be patient. Offer food, but give it some undisturbed time to get over the changes.

I had two red ear sliders and the one loved cooked meat and the other way crazy about the blood worms but they both ate the floating pellets. Try using ReptoMin Floating Food Sticks or Fluker's Aquatic Turtle Formula Turtle Diet.

Hey who ever said release the turtle back into the wild is an IDIOT! Releasing captive reptiles back into the wild especially turtles such as red eared sliders which are know to have diseases such as salmonella can wreck the area's ecosystem. Releasing the turtle to a local creek could kill all the creatures that live there. Take it to a local pet store if you don't want it, they will find it a home.

Have you tried crickets? I used to have 3 red eared sliders and they loved crickets. Also, you may want to try feeding it in a different container. When mine were really small they didn't want to eat in their tank for some reason. Mine liked ReptoMin and they really liked dried shrimp. I would just get the shrimp at Walmart in the fish section. It may not get all the nutrients it needs from just blood worms though. Also, turtles don't have to eat everyday so it just may not be hungry. www.turtlesale.com has some good info that may help. Good luck!!

In tinnitus, the sounds a person hears are actually perceptions. Since there's no actual source, they are often referred to as "phantom noises". I read that about 8% of all people in the US suffer from tinnitus so you are not the only one who hears these strange noises.

Tinnitus is actually not a disease. It is actually a symptom of a problem that is rooted deep, somewhere within your body. The problem could be a simple one like an infection in the ear, or even simpler, such as ear wax. Just clear the wax and get the infection treated, and the noises could go away. In some people, it could even be the result of a side-effect of a drug they took. Or it could be more complicated.

If you want to know more about this condition and wnat to learn how to solve naturally your problems with these annoying noises you should read this ebook: http://tinnitus.toptips.org

It helped me a lot.

I have used Reptomin sticks. When I first had my turtle, it was quite small, had very picky about eating. I would use the Reptomin sticks and soak in either tuna or salmon oil, he couldn't resist. Now that he is much bigger (~2-3x) he will eat most foodstuff (worms, crickets, feeder fish, other small insects). I still give him Reptomin, especially during the winter months, but during the spring, summer and fall, I will bring in what I can catch or buy feeder fish.

Release the turtle back into the environment. Turtles are wild animals. They are not domesticated like dogs and cats. Your turtle will never love you back (in fact it probably hates you).

its normal this time of year, they go into 'hybernation mode.'
if you dont want him hybernating (sp?) just get him out every day and keep the water warm...he will be better soon. if not its time for the vet
