Here's a question for those of you who have worked for a long time at the same employer, especially if you don't like the job?

Why do you stay? What motivates you to NOT look for a different job?

See the answers below. I think all of them are correct. This is one of those questions where there is no true best answer because it is based on each person's situation.

So, I'm gonna leave this to a vote, because all of these below are worthy of the "best answer".

Security, seniority, being too lazy, convenience........thats why most people stay, just like in relationships.

I would guess that many people stay because they live in a small town or city, there are limited employment opportunities in their field, and they need to support a family. Moving to another place for employment can be very challenging, especially if you have a family to support. Also even if you aren't in that situation, getting a new job depends on the state of the economy. Right now for instance employers aren't aggressively hiring.

In my experience, it's usually health insurance. I've worked with many people who hate their jobs but love the benefits.
