does anyone know what restrictions key bank has on cashing student loan checks? Will they allow me to sign over the check and deposit it in my dads account? It is a 15000 dollar check and I need to buy my car and pay my apartment rent up front but no where will cash it and will make me wait 11 days to clear. any suggestions?

I was able to find Key Bank's "Funds Availability Policy" online through the link below. I just had to choose the kind of account, and enter my zip code. Click the "Agreements and Disclosues" link from the page given below.
Banks typically reserve the right to put a "hold" on a check deposit - for either a given number of days, or until the check "clears" the writer's account. Check out Key's policy, and make sure you are aware of these policies whenever you open any kind of account. Yes, it's the boring legal crap, but it can be knowledge that comes in handy :)

You can't sign a contract at your age, so no bank is going to let you open an account (necessary to get a debit card) without a parent or guardian.
