Yes, I know, silly question, but maybe the fact that Eragon is so close in spelling to Dragon means that the movie itself will be about as original as someone taking an existing word and changing a letter.

Christopher Paolini stated on www.alagaesia.com he created the name Eragon from the word dragon. He also describes how he came up with other names of his cities and characters. He began writing his series at fifteen, but he really used the first year to get his plot straight.

The book was less original then someone taking an existing word and changing a letter. If you read/watch fantasy any more often then never, you'll find the story to be completely recycled and unimaginative. I have no clue why it is so popular. Probably kids who have never picked up another book besides Harry Potter.

hmm..good question, I actually didn't even relieze that Eragon was so close to Dragon. Maybe someone just decided to be original and change it to Eragon instead..who knows.

No, the author of the books did it intentionally. Its very close to his favorite character in the book Lord of the Rings. Guess which one.

it could be. i thought the writer was kind of copying the name of aragorn from LOTR. it's like in Harry Potter, when Diagon Alley is just a "different" spelling of diagonally, which i didn't realize until someone told me!

You're an idiot. It's based of a book. And duh, It's called Eragon because it's a book about people riding dragons.

It based on a book by the same name. It was written by a friggin' 16 year old kid and so of course everyone will rush to go and see the stupid thing.
