Kidney stones are caused by the precipitation of salts in your kidneys. Both calcium and magnesium are not very soluble ions and can cause kidney stones. Best thing you can do if you're taking antacids is not to drink soft-drinks, since they contain very large amounts of phosphates, and both magnesium and calcium phosphate are very insoluble (essentially chalk). In summary, magnesium and calcium (from antacids) are not very soluble cations. Phosphates (from soft-drinks) are not very soluble anions. Combine the two in sufficient amounts, and you've got kidney stones.
