Glad you asked this question. This movie hit home for me and a buddy. We're in our early 20's. Im lilke Jack and he Ennis. Our relationship is almost parrallel to this movie. When we went and saw it we were both speechless in the end. It was talking about he and I . Our relationship is based on deep passinate manly love. Its hard to explain really, He and I are not queer, or even into the gay lifestyle. I had never been with a Man in my life, or care too, and so is He, he is the only one and the last one. I love him not because he is a guy, but because of that "deep trust" we were bestfriends through college. We never did anything like this before, it was that one time when we got drunk and things happened. It was different for he and I, but it was good in a strange way. So our love developed. Making love to him feels like im giving 110% love. It's true when the say, that its only good to do it with the one you love.
Its interesting to see how people understand the movie people who have not lived that life, think its a gay movie, or about two gay people doing this and that. People who have lived it, like me and my bud, just "get it" no queer, gay sh.it. Anyway, I can tell you this.. this relationship is full of hardships. and they were right about "If you cant fix it, just stand it" So far, things going ok with he and I. He and I took different paths for career, hes moved to Europe and I stayed behind in the US. Everyday is like hell, but we manage and leave it to fate...(we're standing it)

I am gay. I found brokeback mountain absurd. First of all, anal sex doesnt quite happen that way w/o pain. Im not into pain. The emotional difficulties were there under the circumstances. The movie had an ok storyline but the sex scenes were not all that.

For the time and circumstances that these two men lived in I would say that it was a pretty accurate description. Gay relationships aren't exactly like that anymore--at least not in the big urban centers where I live...but I'm sure there is lots of it in the suburbs...I can't tell you how many times I have been approached by 'straight' married men.

Let me tell you that a man having a sexual relationship with another man is the most erotic experience that I have ever had. Having a man hold you in his strong arms and feeling his hard body against your is awesome. Then the kiss....... OMG......

LOL. It was Hollywood, so of course it has its unrealisitc moments. But relationships are relationships. How different can they be? U love someone that u are scared to be with, most would play out in the same way.

considering the movie took place in the 60s and 70s, and in an area like wyoming, well it was pretty much right on the nose. I can relate very well with the movie. Outstanding acting, directing and storyline.

It is pretty much the way it was and kindof is. Of course every gay story is different.
