I have a new black and white photo and I want to make it look old and weathered. Is there anyway I can do it with some kind of regular household stuff. A kit costs too much for just one photo.

Depending on what kind of picture it is, you can:
Rub brown shoe polish over the surface
Lay used tea bags on the top
Tear then burn the edges
Lightly erase the surface with a pencil eraser
Don't forget to crease a corner or fold it in half over and over to make it look as if it's been folded in a picture book for years.

I believe coffee is the wrong thing to use.......tea would be better.......don't let it soak, just whip it right through, lay it on a towel to dry, when it's almost dry put in the dryer on low........but keep your eye on it.....if you don't, it will shrink up too much, when you can feel it's just about dry, bring it out ....let it air dry the rest of the way. Done right, you'll have something that looks like it came from the 1800's. GOOD LUCK........LATER

Scan / fax it to your computer (if you have the capability) if not, send it to me (email me if you need to) and I will convert it to a MS word file for you. You can make it black/white and print it out.

Then, rub a clear/white candle over it to give it a waxed finish. Then, crinkle it up and burn around the edges. I have done this a ffew times and it comes out terrific.

Run a black and white copy of it and dip the copy into tea or coffee and let it soak for a little while. When you remove it and let it dry, it will be wrinkled and tinted.
