I have one piece of fur that I think might have some insect eggs in it (I bought it on ebay), but I can't find anything on the web about it. How do I tell if it's got some horrible infestation, if it had some horrible infestation and there's just some dead eggs left over or if it's actually something else altogether like the skin shedding? And if it is insect eggs is there any way to get rid of them without paying vast amounts to a furrier?

Mothballs? Call a Furrier for sure! But never store real leather or fur in plastic for any length of time! If you try mothballs, put it in plastic for a day or two perhaps but don't leave it there long. Fur and leather begin to molt (fur begins to shed) when it's stored without sufficient air flow. Paper is recommended if you don't have a professional cover.

This may sound strange, but it works - microwave the fur.

P.S. IS this a sweatervest or some other article of clothery?
