Thanks for all of your answers! I have been sick for over a week with strep throat -- that is gone.. but now i've got a horrible cough. Normally I would just not take any meds and wait it out (im not a fan of meds anyways.. especially when preggo) however.. I am still working full time- and I am on the phone all evening at work... so "toughing it out" is not working so well. Last night i drank over 3 liters of water in 6 hours! Anyways though.. I would rather not go get more cough medicine (i had a little tussin left i took the other night) and I can make tea etc etc at work-- soooo my question her is what are some "home" remedies you all know that have worked for your coughs? (ie i am coughing so much it's making me puke everytime i start coughing) And I am getting plenty of rest while my six year old is in school.. =)

Ok, my "secret" recipe:

ginger, sliced or minced
garlic, sliced or minced
cayenne pepper (I know you are thinking, but my throat is sore, trust me it works)

Simmer for half an hour.

Toss in some cilantro (chopped if desired), remove from heat.

Let sit 5 min. Sweeten with honey, if desired. Strain if desired. If you are going to strain it sliced is easier than minced.

Ginger, garlic and honey boost the immune system and are antibacterial, antiviral. I don't know what the cayenne does, but it sure helps sore throats. Cilantro is just for flavour.

I was really sick with a bad cold and my dr told me to take Ludens, as long as it didn't have menthol in it it was ok. I would call your dr to make sure what you can take besides Tussin. I know that Tussin didn't work too well for me. Good luck and hope you feel better.

I feel contemporary discovering say that you simply will have to now not deliver bloodless/cough treatment to babies. I feel so much programs are going to begin to mention that no baby beneath three or four will have to have it. So I feel you will have to simply take a look at the noodle soup, vaporizer and such for buying alleviation for you baby as a substitute.

Ice chips. It numbs your throat and it is not putting anything in you that will harm the baby. Also, riccola cough drops, they are all natural.
