i consider myself libertarianm, but i want to ask conservatives to provide some alternative to socialized healthcare. if theres a guy who works more than 40hrs a week and just cant afford something, then what should he do? and i dont want these pardons or excuses that "no party has been able to solve it" or blah blah. there are people who have possible solutions, i hope.

The alternative to socialized healthcare? A broken healthcare/welfare system that doesn't work.
Oh wait.....that's what we have now.

There is no alternative.

Not a conservative, but I'd like to see a panel formed to research how socialized health care has worked in other countries - provide pros and cons - and recommend some kind of plan based on the findings. Then it would be well-researched and comprehensive.

I tire of hearing the rhetoric about how people can afford health care if they want to. As a former insurance agent targeting self-employed people, I know how amazingly insane the costs can be unless you are perfectly healthy and young.

I also consider myself to be libertarian...and I think that universal access to affordable healthcare for working people should be a must. You have to work, you have to pay for it, but it is available and affordable. And I am willing to bet that insurance companies would fall over themselves at an opportunity to bid. Now, as long as we take bids ( no Halliburton moves) I think this is not only possible but necessary. We are already paying huge amounts of money for welfare and the defacto insurance therein, and for outstanding medical bills left by the uninsured and illegals. So, let's head it off at the pass and provide a way for people to have preventative healthcare.

The man needs to better himself so that he can afford health care if that's what he wants. We all make choices in this life, and very few people couldn't really adjust their budget to afford some high-level health care - enough to cover big things like broken arms and other serious injuries.

The problem is that everyone thinks they need to run to the doctor every time they get a sore throat. Most health problems can be fixed with over-the-counter medications.

That being said, if we stopped giving a free ride to every able-bodied person who chooses to get knocked up and not earn their own way, we could give excellent health care coverage to every working adult that didn't get it through his company.

I have no problem helping people who are trying to make their own way, and I wish our government would spend the money there and not give it to lazy slackers who choose to do nothing with their lives.

insurance and tort reform. these two abominations are what made the cost of medical care skyrocket. Changing the system to something that doesn't work doesn't fix these problems.

IMHO, working poor should get cutrate coverage. The lazy nonworking perpetual welfare types should be culled from the herd and sterialized or killed for transplant organs.

I GUESS HE BETTER GO BACK TO SCHOOL AND GET A BETTER JOB. DON'T WORK FOR COMPANIES THAT DON'T OFFER HEALTH BENEFITS. THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY GENERATES TOO MUCH MONEY. THEY WILL NEVER SOCIALIZE MEDICINE.
