To be more specific,,I am a car salesman in virginia....they are charging $150 a month, they give you money for every name , add, phone # and e-Mail you get. However you don't get enough to cover the $150 so they charge you the extra. I didn't sign a contract for this, I get paid a salary plus commission..taxes are taken out..not a contractor....doesn't seem right to me

You must be a contract worker. It's legal if you are using the company's equipment for your own business. For example, this is generally done for people who are working as real estate agents or some other self employed position where you use their company name but they do not take out taxes because you are an independent contracter.

However, if this is the case, you can write all job expenses off on your taxes.

It doesn't sound legal unless maybe they are charging you to use it for personal use. If you signed an employment contract and that was mentioned in the contract, then there is nothing you can do. But that is just crazy. I have never heard of anything like that.

Do you ever feel irritated when you hear news that your public servant is using public funds for their own private purposes? This is the same way you are doing when you use your computer at work (personal use that is). The company is paying all its bills thinking that those expenses are purposely used for its operation.

How would you feel if I go to your house, plug in my computer and surf all day, then come back the next day, and over? Would you be so happy to know that you are paying the electric bill while I am enjoying the web? That is how your company feels?

Good luck.

What do you mean you are being charged a monthly fee? If you are providing a service at work for your employer, using their equipment, how can they charge you? You need to be a bit more specific for a more specific answer. Call your Department of Labor... sounds illegal if it is their equipment. If it is technically yours, then that is a different story.

Employers can make you buy certain clothing for work, but I've never heard of charging an employee for using something that belongs to the company.

It may be legal, but it's definitely slimy. Look for another job before they start charging you for pens.

i'm surprised at what share people think of Limewire is criminal! it is not! once you get carry of each and all of the music/video clips for loose, possibility is its a criminal offense. besides, i could say flow with iTunes. Its no longer a subscription provider, you pay in line with song, yet i certainly like it. in the previous i offered an iPod I used Napster to flow. I cherished it, yet there replaced into an further fee to burn CDs.

I don't think that sounds right. But maybe it could be used as a tax write-off.
