No. Any economist will tell you that this is bad for renters as well as landlords. People wouldn't be able to move because they'd lose their protection and face much higher rent in the new place. Economic theory dictates that the free market will yield the most efficient allocation of assets. If you interfere in any way with the free-market (like with rent control) you add "friction" to the system that adds inefficiency.

No, this is a fact proven in Economics that any sort of government intereference produces nothing but dead waste and degreades that entire society as a whole.

Let the invisible hands of supply and demand do their work. We don't have to enforce any prices and then end up actually producing a "shortage" of housing.

Pricing is a way for landlords to select their tenants. If that is taken away, then other criteria (such as race and religion) is used instead.

You are only asking for touble.

The socialist government education system we have going is terrible. We should NOT allow the government to put it's hands onto the free market of real estate.
