I have read and heard that the normal 14 day theory is a myth, that's only true if your cycles are 28 days. I am now pregnant but have wondered if there's any way to find out what might be the normal conception day for people with irregular periods. I got off the pill in July and skip a period had one 35 days apart and also one 29 days. Just curious if anyone might know the norm for irregular periods.

I have irregular periods also. I had NO clue when I conceived. I found out the week I conceived this morning. It was much earlier than I thought. I conceived on day 15. I don't have 28 day cycles at all. They are always longer. But, keep in mind if this does happen the doctor is the only one that can help you with this. The calculators won't work or anything. I just had my ultrasound today. The nurse told me that if you have irregular periods you should tell your doctor ASAP. The sooner you get the ultrasound the more accurate of the conception date it will be. Good luck.

I also had irregular periods at the time I conceived my son. The only way to be sure is with an ultrasound. Of course, even my ultrasound was off. But considering that a normal pregnancy lasts 38 - 42 weeks, using the 14 day theory should get you close enough.

It's quite hard to pinpoint the exact date.

Try home pregnacy tests around that 14th date. Probably after the 14 days since they are at intervals greater than 28.

Fail proof approach: consult your medical professional.
