The whole treatment industry is based on a lie.
The disease theory is a lie. It is a grandiose myth created by the flim flam man and bom-vivant "ladys man" (wink wink) Bill Wilson.

You should read the ORANGE PAPERS they are online and will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about BW and AA, the cult of powerlessness and doublespeak.

So why is it the only 'treatment' for alcoholism is to refer you to AA meetings....gimmie that old time religion (repeat 3x)

Is there any other disease where you are told that it is because you are not right with God and if you just turn your will and life over to the magic fairy in the sky he will be kind enough to take away the desire to drink.....but.... he will only do it one day at a time(?).... so many conundrums....so little sense.
AA does more harm than good.

Your question is based on what premise?

for Answer A. Addiction to Activity can be attributed to increases in neurotransmission channels as does alcohol and drugs.

Answer B. Tolerance assumes it takes more of the chemical to reach the desired result. I'd say that many people that label themselves "alcoholic" are barely that. I personally developed tolerance during my drinking and drugging career.. People label themselves alcoholic it is not a matter of objective scientific fact.

Answer C. You assume that a vulnerable population is more prone to addiction, when you say "certain" this seems need a qualifier, the mentally ill (depression, schizophrenia, and personality disorders) tend to have a higher frequency of addiction then does the "normal" population as views in a multitude of studies..

D. Tolerance to Alcohol and drugs is the same physiological mechanism.

Answer is C.

The disease model of alcoholism does not explain why there are drinkers who are NOT alcoholics. It would seem that if the alcohol is the stimulant, then all drinkers would drink to the death (figuratively). However, we know that some people are "wired" with an allergic (more of an insatiable craving) reaction to the alcohol, and they are the ones to become alcoholics, having the DISEASE of alcoholism, rather than the enjoyment of drinking.
