If your writing a paper, Maybe you could check out the Oprah website. She just featured him about a week or so ago on her show for all he says he's doing for the enviroment. He has made some movie about it but I can't remember what it was called. I'm sure Oprah has links on all the people she interviews on her website. I think it's just oprah.com. Whatever is there then there is also probably other links for him as well. Good Luck. I'm not promoting Al or Oprah but pretty sure you can get info that way!
I found the website. Hope this helps you:

I am sure Al Gore might be a friendly guy you know as a checker at the super market or something. But he really does not belong in politics because he gets caught up in what he is talking about and really does not seem informed on much of anything. He is way over his head.

Precisely...What has he done for the world...good or bad? That is the whole point of the TIME person of the year. It is supposed to be someone that has profoundly impacted the whole world...positively or negatively. Gore has had no impact what so ever. You need a new subject, hon.

He is a visionary, for he has given enormous amount of funding and grants to help with the development and privatization of the internet when he was the vice president (even though he did not invent the internet).
He also is advocating for people to stop abusing the planet and to protect the environment and animals.

Good luck on your paper!

Why should he be? I haven't heard anything of any significance that Gore's done this year.

He shouldn't be. The person of the year should be a person, not a tree.
