According to Microsoft's website, you can not install IE7 on Windows 2000 (link to system requirements provided with this answer).

Required operating systems are:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Nope, you can't install IE7 on Windows 2000. (Take a look at the link i posted)

But no fret, IE7 is pretty slow and buggy anyways and I am using still IE6 even though I have Windows XP.

As I remember, you need to have at least one of the four systems you describe above to have Explorer 7 work. Unfortunately, you will probably need to buy one of these since it also requires a validated copy to work. You should probably buy one of these anyway, since the automatic update process pretty much only works with these anyway. Good luck.
