He flies using his magnetism and the Earths magnetism. His helmet is a shield against psychic attack. ( in a nutshell)

Magneto wears the helmet to stop other mutants and Dr Charles Xavier reading his mind. The reason he can fly is because he has the ability to move and manipulate metal. i.e the iron in his blood. That's also how he makes other people fly though the air. Hope this clears things up.

nope he has got that kinda power,because look even without metal he can fly,there is evidence in the 2nd part itself,remember he was jailed and like there were metal balls,he controlled the metal balls to kill the gaurds and like he also got up in the air quite high,anyways have a nice day

magneto wears a metal hat because so that he can block the professor charles to keep him out of his head by reading his thoughts and so that he can also keep him from making him do what he wants by keeping him out of his head

No it's so that his thoughts can go unread by others Dr Xavier in particular. This was reavealed in X-men 2.

The helmet is to stop Xavier getting into his head. Patrick Stewart mentions it in one of the films.
