It depends on what kind of grass you have. If you have fescue, then you might be able to get away with simply watering the bald spot and allowing the fescue to send out "runners" that will eventually fill it in. If this is a large bald spot, I'd buy a square of sod and cover it. Remember to water generously and till up the compacted soil before you lay the sod. Alternately, you can re-seed with storebought grass seed. Make sure you pick a grass that will work well in your area and with the level of sunlight available on the spot. Don't cast the seed when it's too hot or too cold.

There are certain things you can do. The most sure way is the following. Get some new enriched dirt and put it on the bald spot, this is assuming you've tried to regrow your grass. If this spot is not located in sunlight most of the time it'll be harder to grow. Then rake the soil of the spot and mix it in with the old soil. Take grass seeds and spread them liberally over the area. If you want more work use some fertilizers. Then water liberally as well. If you have the right amount of water and sunlight you should start seeing results in about 2 weeks.

in case you will hit upon some Bermuda grass seed, that's terrific to do what they call overseeding. that's the place you employ a metallic rake to tough up the thatch/dirt of the bald section, unfold some seed down, and cover with some million/8 - one million/sixteen inch of topsoil. then you incredibly cope with it like a clean backyard, the place you could water it for a couple of minutes some circumstances an afternoon to maintain it moist until it sprouts and could become superior.

The fast way? Cut out a square where the hole is and get a piece of sod to put in there.

The slow way? Triple mix dirt and seeds.
