make sure you wipe all services of the freezer after you turn it off. I suggest Vinegar and then put in a box of baking soda and keep it in the freezer. Just replace the baking soda if it starts to smell again.

All refrigerators absorb odors from foods even in the freezer...so once a week is a good time to clean the refrigerator section..but the freezer does not need that much cleaning unless you spill something..or something bursts...if you remove everything one time and thoroughly wash it completely with baking soda and warm water and then rinse with clean water..and dry it out with a nice terry towel.. that should really get it smelling fresh...then after that your refrigerator should not have this problem. Sometimes food that has not been sealed tight in a plastic container will cause odors...so it's best to always cover tightly with a lid everything to cut down on spills and extra cleaning you don't want to be bothered with. The produce drawers are the first place to look for something rotting. Some foods won't last but only a few days. So keep your eye on the produce section. Good luck now I'll go check mine! lol ps..keep a OPEN box of baking soda in your refrigerator or freezer after you have cleaned it.

There is probably some mold or blood that has made its way into a crack or something. Happened to me once and I took everything out, took some hot, soapy water with bleach and cleaned it out really good. I even emptied the ice trays and cleaned them and dumped ice from the ice maker and cleaned it really well. I rinsed it really well with clear water and a clean wash rag and then turned it back on and everything was fine.

When you turn off a freezer, keep the door propped open, or else moisture left inside will cause mildew.

If switched off and empty, wash out using bicarbonate of soda and warm water, dry and DO NOT close the door, let the air circulate. Hope this helps.
