I am in 8th grade and I have this 120 point science project and I have no ideas. I was hoping it could be in a "what is the effect of ______?" form. I was thinking of doing "What is the effect of no food for one day?" but another group is doing "What is the effect of eating only 200 calories for one week?" I am quite afraid the other group would think I am copying though my teacher dosen't mind. Should I use my idea and do you have any other ideas? Help Please!

i do think that you should use your idea. if it is your idea then use it. if you thought long and hard about it and you want to do it then............
just make sure you make the right choice whatever you believe in then do it as soon as possible just make sure you make the right choice in the right amount of time.
Especially if you really need the grade then do it with no hesitation

First, you need not stress at all about this. You will submit a very worthy project, which reflects your interest in Science and your timely completion of the course requirements.

In choosing a topic it would be best to draw from areas that are of natural interest to you. Also, you must be realistic in what resources are available to you, i.e. you cannot go to the Alaskan Tundra and research and report on effects of Global warming impacting on Tundra ecosystems.

Your suggestion to research and report the effects of one full day of no food intake seems like and accessible topic, you need only yourself and your own careful observations.

I would be as specific and micro detailed as possible, noting even seemingly insignificant reactions of your physical and psychological profile on an hourly basis at the very least.

As far as it having been plagarized from the experiments of the other group of students, I do not see this as being problematic. They are doing one week, and you quite differently, are engaging the subject for twenty four hours. You can provide much more detailed and incrementaly more minute observations.

Do your best, apply yourself with integrity and vigor. You will succeed better than you expect . I am sure.

Sincerely Yours,

Michael

What is the effect of coca-cola on.......
I did this science project in sixth grade and used nails (The ones you use with a hammer). The coke started rotting holes in the nails. This is inexpensive, easy and informative. You could use many different items to see what the coke does to it.

Grade 8 I remember way back when learning about lens' do something on lens' like what makes someone far sighted compared to what makes someone near sighted do side views of the eye, and while you're at it do parts of the eye ok this is the gross but wickedly cool part go to a butcher, ask your parents to find on for you, when you're there ask them if you can get a cow eye ball go way in advance.. not to far, but give them long enough to get you one once you get the cow eyeball, disect it for your own good fun but what I'm really getting at here is get the lens the lens is soooo cool! Its like a marble in the cows eye and it magnafies a newspaper, it'll be killer!
