Lowering taxes to stimulate economic growth is a short term solution to a devastated economy. So now that the economy is doing so well, shouldn't we roll back those tax cuts for the most rich?

How about we cut out the tax breaks for the middle class and start charging those that don't contribute to our society their fair share!

No, your whole premise is wrong.

Lowering taxes stimulates real economic growth.

Rolling back tax cuts is a tax increase. We need to continue to cut taxes and actually cut government spending.

Also, your premise that the most rich gets the tax cuts is not exactly true. The top 1% pays about 33% of the federal income taxes. The top 50% pay almost 97%.

You have a lot to learn about how economics work

i could be wrong but last i remember it didnt matter if you was rich poor or what in america they had to treat you at a hospital they could turn noone down so that shoots that one point of jabberjaw up there down. Also in canad and other places with universal health care you have to be put on a waiting list to see doc and there health care system is nowhoere near as good as ours. we need to keep the tax cuts, implement more of them, and leave the minium wage alone! raise minimum wage places will lay people off (mom and pop stores and other small chains) and stores will raises prices to compensate for lost revenue and probably more

What your saying makes absolutely perfect sense. However, what is perfectly sensible hardly ever translates into legislation and government action because those in power hardly work for what is good for the whole, but only for what is good for those who are their most prolific supporters, especially those who can invest the most in their political campaigns. This group of influential people happen to all be a part of the upper economic echelon. Hence, the leaders we elected will always do more to appease them, even if is at the expense of what is good for the country as a whole.

Because tax cuts to businesses (who are the vast majority of said "wealthy") spur economic growth. Overtaxed businesses do not hire new employees, for example. Additionally, tax revenue was raised quite a bit more by these tax cuts. The government took in more money because of them (due to profit). The budget needs to be balanced on the congressional side.

the "rich" paid a higher percentage of total tax burden after the cut honey. second, the fact that u think a tax cut is a temporary solutuion to a bad economy and then u go back and raise taxes so u can have a bad economy start again shows yer ignorance. we should have as low taxes as possible. the fact is lowering taxes has always brought more revenues because of the stimulus to the economy as a whole. so until we find where these lines cross, taxes should continue to be lowered. oh and as far as that goof above me that went on with all those "facts"...the problems with the world have nothing to do with the economy in America stupid. in fact, if the world would embrace capitalism instead of being as dumb as rocks and simply envying the United States, they wouldnt have those problems.

This is what's wrong with America.Taxes are the enemy. The best way for a politician to get not elected is to say he wants to raise taxes.
Where to start.Poor people are just lazy bums and they lack personal responsibility and they certainly don't deserve a government handout payed by my money that I earned working hard.
Completely ignoring that sompe people might not have the skill or ability to work for a living or that despite their best effort they fail at everything they start.I guess that are losers then and they have no place in America? The same people who are against abortion, wanna make it a crime don't seem to value human life that much once it's out of the womb.Yes I said it cause it's the biggest hypocrisy ever.In their twisted world view they would force evryone to have children also the abusive and neglectient and incapable.Because human life is sacred but when that child grows up without skills, ability or even common decency and for sure not things that will ever get it a job, then when he's adult his life, his precious human life doesn't mean **** anymore to the same people who wanted him or her born.
Rich people are always good honest hard working people who help the economy and they should get tax breaks because that's good for the economy.
The minimum wage can't be increased because it's bad for buisness and the economy again sentencing people who work Godddam hard to poverty.
This is one way they try to justify it form a letter someone sent me about the minimum wage.
"Economic rules have no compassion, but they are rules we must obey. Just as the rules of physics have no compassion for a man who jumps from a tall building, the rules of economics have no compassion for a politician who wants to do the impractical to help the poor".
That's the big lie!Economy is man made!Even in a capitalist socieety,in a free market economy it is still a man made concept and people can choose to have social corrections for the weak if they want. And we in Europe do have them and it by far doesn't make us communist. Here everyone who works can afford a decent living and when someone gets sick they get the help needed and yes we pay higher taxes but I never met anyone here who works, gets sick and doesn't go to the doctor because he oir she can't afford it as I heard many times from American friends.
Let me tell you a few other things about economy, child labor is good for the economy and when it was abolished the same arguments were made.I bet slavery is good for the economy. Conclusion, the economy doesn't mean anything if it's not in the interest of a whole socieety.
Humanity should come before economy always.
For all those who glorify the economy a few facts. The world can be proud.
Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.
Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.
1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5 (or roughly 29,000 children per day).
In my bible and in no civil phylosophy is greed and selfishness a virtue.

Actually continued low rates for the rich will provide long term economic growth provided the spending of the government is under control.

Why does the DNC figure everyone with a household income over 33K is rich? EVERYONE who makes 33K and over got a tax cut.

Please remember that a tax cut only means we keep more of what we have earned.

if the government takes more money from the rich, the rich will not pay the people that work for them as much and will just up the price of their products.
